FAQs

Is this seminar for both men and women?
Yes! This seminar is designed for everyone. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu self-defense techniques rely on leverage and timing — not size, strength, or athleticism — making them equally effective and empowering for both men and women. Everyone will train in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where learning and confidence take center stage.

How long is the workshop?
Arrival time is 5:30pm-6:00pm. The worshop is 90 minutes and will begin promptly at 6:00pm.

What do I wear?
Wear comfortable work-out attire. You will be training with a partner on matted surface. Be prepared to train without your shoes (Socks are ok).

Can you tell me a little about what to expect?
The primary goal of this seminar is to demonstrate the simplicity of learning self-defense through effective techniques accessible to everyone. Throughout the session, you'll explore typical threat scenarios, delve into the psychology of attacks, and acquire fundamental techniques that will prove immediately applicable. Rest assured, you'll participate in a secure and supervised environment. However, please note that some techniques necessitate physical interaction with a partner for practice drills.

Is this a beginner-only event? What if I have no experience?
Absolutely — this experience is designed specifically for beginners with no prior martial arts or contact sports background. The session focuses on creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable, confident, and fully engaged from start to finish.

Will I be learning techniques I can use right away?
Absolutely. This workshop is built around practical, easy-to-learn techniques and concepts you can apply immediately. In just a couple of hours, you’ll gain a solid foundation in proven self-defense strategies — the same principles that have empowered people of all ages and backgrounds to stay safe and confident in real-world situations.

Will this be a workout?
Not in the traditional sense. This session isn’t about fitness or athletic performance — it’s about learning technique and awareness. While you may break a light sweat as you practice movements with a partner, the focus is on mastering the skills, not pushing your limits. It’s accessible to everyone, regardless of fitness level or experience.

Do you have lockers?
Our men and women changing rooms have cubbies.
